The Sinners has set a record at the Oscars by receiving 16 nominations out of 24 categories, including Best Picture. American actors Daniel Brooks and Lewis Pullman announced the final nominations for the 98th Academy Awards live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, USA at 7:30 PM Bangladesh time yesterday.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another is in second place with 13 nominations, followed by Frankenstein (9), Marty Supreme (9), Sentimental Value (9), and Hamnet (8).
Whether it’s OTT or theaters, horror movies have been in the news all over the world for years. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is one of these films. The vampire film, set in the Mississippi of the 1930s, stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role. The film is the third highest-grossing film at the box office in the United States and Canada this year. Sinners has set a record in the 97-year history of the Oscars by receiving nominations in 16 categories: film, director, actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, original screenplay, cinematography, editing, costume design, production design, visual effects, sound recording, original song, original score, makeup, and casting. This record was previously held by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land, which received 14 nominations each.
The final awards will be presented at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 15.

The nominees for Best International Language Film are The Secret Agent, It Was Just an Accident, Sentimental Value, Seerat and The Voice of Hind Rajab.
Nominees for Best Actor include Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent).
Nominees for best actress include Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sang Blue), Renata Rainsway (Sentimental Value) and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
