Dog returns home after 10 years

More than a decade ago, two-year-old Buttercup suddenly disappeared from her home one day. Despite extensive searches, she was never found.

Buttercup is a pet dog. She is one of two pets in a family in the United States. After searching for several days and not finding her beloved dog, the family assumed that the dog had died.

Last week, Miami-Dade Animal Services in Miami-Dade County posted on Facebook that a dog was brought to their center earlier this month and after being scanned, they found a microchip embedded in its body.

From the information on the microchip, they learned that the dog’s name was Buttercup. She was now about 15 years old. She had been missing for more than 10 years.

After all these years, the family rushed to the Miami-Dade Animal Services Center to receive news of their beloved dog. An emotional reunion scene unfolded there.

The Facebook post says, “Moments like this remind us why microchipping is important.”

The post also says, “The effectiveness of a microchip depends on the information associated with it. Keeping contact information up-to-date can help a lost pet have a chance at a happy reunion like Buttercup’s instead of being lost forever.”

Many people saw this post. Many commented. One commented, ‘How is he (the dog) doing? Did he recognize you? Eesh! If only he could talk and tell us about his adventures.’

Another wrote, “10 years? I want to know more about this story.”

Another wrote, ‘What a great story! Welcome home Buttercup. How sweet!’
